E Thompson & Son Ltd is a professional and environmentally conscious organisation, which acknowledges the impact that our operations may potentially have on the environment. The clear objective of E Thompson & Son is to minimise any impact on the environment by:

• Advising all of our employees and direct contractors of this policy, and the reasons for it.
• Complying with all relevant environmental legislation, notably the 'duty of care' for waste disposal and the 'special waste' regulations.
• Active prevention of pollution in respect of our activities.
• Seeking to establish, before arriving on-site, if the client has any specific environmental requirements, for example for the control of pollution.
• Continually seeking to increase the reuse or recycling of the materials used in our operations, where this is financially practical for our business and taking action to eliminate or reduce, as far as practicable, any potentially adverse environmental impacts.
• Considering the effects that our operations may have on the local community and seeking to work in partnership with the community by behaving in a considerate and socially responsible manner.
• Advise all company drivers about the need for fuel-efficient driving, and record annual company mileage and petrol consumption.

To further help reduce the environmental impact of carbon dioxide emissions we will advise our clients about possible options for using energy efficient equipment and fittings, where installation is technically possible. All employees and sub-contractors are expected to co-operate and assist in the implementation of this policy, whilst ensuring that their own works, so far as is reasonably practicable, are carried out without risk to themselves, others or the environment. This includes co-operating with management on any environment related matter.

Management and supervisory staff have responsibilities for the implementation of the policy and must ensure that environmental issues are given adequate consideration in the planning and day-to-day supervision of all work. The Directors have overall responsibility for all environmental matters. The operation of this policy and the associated procedures will be monitored and reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that they remain current and applicable to E Thompson & Son's activities.

Protection of the environment is the responsibility of all employees of the company.
