Bradley Primary School
Thompson were appointed the Principal Contractor under a competitive tender with Lancashire County Council to undertake the full electrical refurbishment of Bradley Primary School including:
- New incoming HV Supply with new main section panel and sub distribution boards.
- New Sub Mains Cabling
- New Containment system and final circuit wiring
- New lighting and emergency lighting.
- Modifications to existing fire alarm system
- New stage lighting, data, disabled WC alarms and induction loops
Common areas were completed during evenings, weekends and holiday periods. Working on night shifts we needed to ensure areas were handed back in a clean and safe condition and our engineers followed tested methods and checks to ensure this took place.
This project was taking place in a live operational primary school which brought out many programming and health and safety challenges. Read what the headteacher had to say about our work below:

As a school, we were very nervous about the impact that this work was going to have but we need not have worried. The engineers from Thompson’s have been wonderful; they consulted with us at every opportunity and throughout the whole process have been professional, helpful and industrious.
This was a very difficult task and yet they made it seem effortless; I am aware of how hard they had to work to ensure they did not get in the way of our normal practice and their efforts were appreciated. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. They always listened to us if we had comments to make and on a number of occasions they moved furniture for us – especially when we created our temporary classroom so they could work in the rooms.
Some six months later as the job nears its end, I felt that I needed to express our thanks and appreciation for a job truly well done. In particular, Steve and Colin have always been my “go to” people and it is because of their resourcefulness, personal skills and professionalism that the job has been as smooth and unobtrusive as it has been.
Of course, I know the job has also involved many other people, all of whom have adhered to the mantra set out by Colin and Steve. We thank them all as well!
Overall then, a wonderful job all round! I cannot recommend Thompson’s highly enough and would say they are the best company I have worked with in my nineteen years as a Headteacher. On behalf of everyone at Bradley Primary School, many thanks!
