Project Description
Cardinal Newman College Door Retainers
Covid19 Control Measures
As part of the Covid19 control measures being implemented the college wanted a solution to reduce interaction of frequent touch points to allow the free flow of students and staff around the campus.
We proposed a number of solutions to the College and discussed with them various options depending on the short and long term need.
New door retaining magnet devices were installed to all fire doors with a new electrical supply to each door and each retainer interfaced with the existing Fire Alarm System.
Doors are now secured in the open position preventing the hundreds of touch points each day by staff and students. By interfacing with the Fire Alarm this ensures that all doors will shut in the event of a fire alarm activation maintaining compliance with their fire risk assessment.
