Project Description

Power Supplies for Emergency Generators and UV Light Rigs

We received an emergency call out from a Field Service Engineer who maintains various water treatment site in Lancashire on a Bank Holiday Sunday.  The client had experienced a breakout of cryptosporidium leading to a boil water notice being issued to the whole Preston area.  The client required emergency power supplies installing to their Water Treatment Site to supply UV Lighting Rigs to treat the water supply.

Two electricians and an apprentice were mobilised to meet the FSE on Site on Sunday and within the hour had commenced work on the installation of a new 63 ATPN power supply to feed the UV rig and installation of emergency generators.

Works extended throughout September and October to a variety of Utilities sites in the Lancashire area to undertake emergency installations for both UV rigs, back up generators and UPS requiring mobilization of a several teams of engineers to complete the work in short demanding timescales to assist in minimising the impact of the incident.

This involved working closely with other United Utilities framework suppliers in other disciplines and further works for UU Cat B Contractors

FEEDBACK

Dear Stuart,

I wanted to send you a note of thanks for your help and support during our recent cryptosporidium incident.  I am very conscious of the hard work put in by so many to help us restore supply of good quality water to over 300,000 homes and businesses in Lancashire.  People worked tirelessly to get parts and equipment to us and then help us install and commission it as quickly as possible.  I consider us very fortunate to have such good friends and partners.

Please pass on my thanks to everyone in your team that played a part.

Thanks and best wishes. Steve Mogford
