Penwortham Whitefield Primary School

Thompson Building Services Engineers have successfully completed the project at Whitefield Primary School which involved the replacement of the Mechanical Heating and Hot Water Plant, BMS Controls system and associated equipment in the plant Room.

Due to the urgent nature of the work, work commenced in September and a temporary boiler was provided and installed as part of the project to provide hot water and heat during the period of installation.

The existing plant room was stripped out in its entireity and a specialist asbestos clean undertaken.

A new controls system has been installed complete with new panel, wiring and associated sensors.

The existing heating distribution within the School, including pipework and heat emitters have been replaced with new. The heating system includes both a constant temperature circuit feeding fan convectors and a variable temperature circuit serving panel radiators

All pipework within the plant room has been thermally insulated using foil faced phenolic foam sections.

New pipework distribution has been installed in malleable iron tube with screwed fitting connections. Thermal insulation is installed in all roof voids and on high level pipework in corridors and the main hall. Insulation within ceiling voids is foil faced phenolic sections. Insulation on the pipework in corridors and the hall at high level has been carried out with an isogenapak coating.
