EE Thompson and Son were founded in 1946 by Ernest Edward Thompson (that’s the EE, in case you were wondering) and established the Company working in the Preston and surrounding area undertaking industrial and commercial electrical installations. Preston Dock was still thriving and after the war investment was needed in housing and infrastructure.

The “and Son” Alan Thompson steered the company through a period of growth both through the Country and the Company. EE Thompson and Son established ourselves as providing installation and maintenance services to a variety of organisations including high street banks, high street retailers and supermarkets whilst still providing industrial installations at utility suppliers and petrochemical factories.

In the early 2000s, branded as, Thompson Electrical Contractors, EE Thompson and Son, Stuart Thompson took over as Managing Director and built upon the great foundations put in place by Ernie and Alan strengthening the company by building on our partnering ethos and building relationships with a number of respected local Building Contracts and winning framework partnerships with local authorities, retail banks, colleges and universities.

Our current clients include Universities, Schools, County Councils, Colleges, nationwide retail outlets, NHS Trusts and major utility suppliers.

Now offering the full suite of mechanical and electrical installations Thompson Electrical have made the transition to Thompson Building Services Engineers to encompass all the services we now offer.

Thompson Building Services Engineers have adapted and innovated our services to meet changes in technology, energy use and customer need. What hasn’t changed over the last 74 years is our passion for excellent service and quality which is epitomised in our six-point promise and ingrained in every member of our team.
