Thompson Building Services Engineers are delighted to welcome four new apprentices to our team.

In spite of the Coronavirus Pandemic Thompson Building Services Engineers is determined to continue to invest in apprenticeships as apprentices are the lifeblood of the M&E industry.  It is important to Thompson that we continue to encourage and support young people to come into the industry so that we have the skills needed for the future.

As a family run business it has always been important to us to build our reputation on the quality of the service our staff give and the best way to instil this is through apprenticeships and they have been vital to the steady growth of the company over the last 75 years.

We understand that taking the time to train someone over a four year period not only develops the competencies required but they are trained in the “Thompson Way” – they understand the values of the business and that the service we deliver is as important as the quality of the workmanship.  We ground them in our ethos and approach using the Six Point Promise which can be found in more detail here

Within the construction industry the customer wants to know about our social responsibility actions.  Our apprenticeship programme demonstrates we are consistently providing career opportunities to the local area developing valuable skills and contributing to the local economy and skills in the area, having recruited and trained over 25 apprentices in the last 10 years.  Currently a large proporption of our Management Team and skilled engineers are former Thompson apprentices having progressed their careers within the Company.

This year saw a large increase in applicants and the standard was extremely high and this certainly didnt make our decisions easy!

We are looking forward to seeing our new apprentices progress and hope they have a long and successful career at Thompson.

If you are interested in becoming an apprentice with Thompson our next recruitment process will commence in April 2021.  Please contact us then for an application form.
