Peter Lloyd

1945-2023

It is with sadness we let you know of the passing of our friend and colleague Peter Lloyd.

Peter was a gentleman, he was vastly experienced and knowledgeable and could sort most problems with a bit of “fettling”.

Peter’s start date is recorded on our current payroll records as 1st April 1969 but his service is probably much longer than that.  Some 48 years and counting he was Thompsons through and through.

He was into his 70th year before he stopped coming into the office, never wanting to officially retire.  After he did retire, he always wanted to know “what’s fresh?”

Peter always knew a man who had the piece of kit you needed, he could fix almost anything and he would never let you down.  He could always be relied on for a call out at any hour or when we were up against it.

When not at work he was well known in the local area for his Christmas Turkeys which were enjoyed by us all many a year.

A good friend to Alan throughout his life, Godfather to Stuart and a friend to many of us, he will be most sadly missed.   Our thoughts are with his wife Doreen, his daughter Lorraine and all his family and friends.

His impact will carry on in Thompsons and in the local industry through the many Electricians he trained as apprentices and young electricians.  Always taking time to show them how things should be done and passing on his knowledge and skills.

We leave you with a photo of Peter proudly towing our float for Preston Guild 2012.  Of course he knew a man with a trailer that would sort us out.

He was one of the best, God Bless Pete from Stuart, Tony and all your friends and family at Thompsons.
